Phoenix stage school classes
Dance, Dance, Dance
In our Dance Fusion class students cover a mix of genres over the year – HipHop, Jazz and Lyrical. Class always starts with warmup to wake up the muscles and prep the body for a fun high energy class! Students learn safe stretches to increase flexibility and across the floor exercises to improve technique, all of which can be done in class and at home. Exciting routines, in a. variety of styles and suitable to each age group are taught to students throughout the year. And all of our Phoenix Students get a chance to showcase their talents in our annual full scale variety show.
Musical Theatre
Musical Theatre is a form of theatrical performance that combines spoken dialogue, songs, acting and dance. In our MT classes students enjoy 3 classes (dance, drama and singing ) – with various teachers over a 90 minute or two hour session. Bi annually we purchase Broadway Musical rights and after months of rehearsals students take to the stage to wow their friends and families in fast paced, toe tapping shows. To date we have produced Shake Ripple & Roll, Seussical, Elf, High School Musical, We will rock you and Matilda. The excitement bounces off the stage in these performances and from show to show we see children’s confidence grow and lasting friendships form.
Jazz & Ballet Technique
In our technique class we hone in on our alignment and correct placement to create a strong foundation for our dancers. We work on ballet & jazz positions, stretching, turns, jumps and floor work in a much more detailed fashion. From September to December each year our technique students concentrate on a syllabus created by our own Claire Gaughran and the term is completed then with a class assessment. The repetitive nature of our assessment term encourages students to practise at home as well as in the studio and also builds each students strength, helping to prevent injuries.
